Springtime Palette

Spring is here which means besides warm weather, we will finally be getting the color back in our world. One of the (many) reasons I hate winter is because everything seems to be dull and boring. It's as if mother nature pulled this grey screen over the world, muting out all of the vibrant colors. The rich reds and oranges of the fall are replaced by browns and greys...ugh. So when spring comes around, I am like a kid in a candy store. There are so many colors, and so much to look at. Here are a couple of colorful photos from a street market this weekend. If you didn't pick up on the theme of this post yet it is....COLOR!

Pedals and Medal

Another rainy day in New York, luckily I still have some pictures from past weekend. While I was out and about I realized I took several photos of bikes. Not sure what drew me to them, but I think I got a couple of interesting shots.

LES

Spring is finally here! I took advantage of the gorgeous weather and spent yesterday afternoon exploring the lower east side. I have to admit I have never really walked around down in that area. After roaming the streets of Clinton, Orchard and Ludlow, I realized I really liked the neighborhood. There was so many things to look at, especially the wall art that occupied a lot of the buildings. I definitely will be venturing down there more often in the future.

Concert on the Cliff

I went to the Alicia Keys concert last night in the Prudential Center last night in Newark. Unfortunately my seats were probably in the worst spot possible. I was at the very top AND on the side of the stage. Plus the stadium had this vertical drop going on, so it felt like we were sitting on a side of a cliff:

However, we still enjoyed ourselves. I mean it is Alicia and the girl can sing. She played several songs from her new album, "Wait Til You See My Smile" and "Try Sleeping with a Broken Heart", while also belting out oldies but goodies like "I Need You", "Diary" and "Fallin"

Of course I couldn't bring Mimi with me, but I still tried to capture the moment with my faithful point and shoot. Alicia is probably the size of a raisin, but i thought that the shots at least captured the vibe of the concert.

Wishful Thinking

Another day of rain and wind in the city, so I decided to look through some of my old photos for a brighter, sunnier day. I found some photos that I took this past fall on a gorgeous day in Central Park. Hopefully these will brightened up some other New Yorkers day on this wet, cold weekend.

Rain, Rain Go Away...

Mother Nature has a sick sense of humor. This week she FINALLY gave us a break from the miserable winter and provided warm and sunny weather; convincing me that spring was coming soon. But as soon as the weekend comes around, what does she do?? Strong winds and torrential downpour. Not cool MN, not cool.

So with the wet weather I couldn't risk taking Mimi out and getting soaked, instead I used my point-and-shoot Nikon Coolpix. I snapped a few photos while I was waiting for some friends for lunch.

Baby Ballers

While I was home I caught my nephew's basketball game. Watching 8 and 9 year olds play basketball is something that I think everyone should partake in. My favorite part was seeing the parents in the stands jump up and down, screaming basketball plays and techniques to their kids on the court. Of course the kids had no idea what there parents were saying and ended up doing the exact opposite. Classic. Anyways, check out a couple of shots of the tots..on the court and in the stands.

Just Around the Riverbend

Today was a gorgeous day and the perfect opportunity to take Mimi out and about. I snapped several pictures along the Schuylkill River, making my way down to the art museum. Shout out to my Mom for helping me scout out the scenes and being a perfect helper.

Homeward Bound

I am finally heading home! I haven't been since Christmas and have attempted several times. Unfortunately Mother Nature decided that the Northeast should have a snowy winter, so several of my trips were snowed out. But I finally have a clear weekend, and from what I hear a nice warm(er) one. Here are some photos I snapped on my way out of the city.

Stay tuned for some pictures this weekend of the City of Brotherly Love - my home city.
